We are pleased to make available the current edition (Volume27) of ESOP to those wishing to order through our Society’s Website ( or through the order form provided by mail. There are substantial papers and reports covering a wide range of topics of interest to prior subscribers. The Journal should also be of interest to individuals previously unfamiliar with ESOP, but with an interest in examining opportunities epigraphy can provide in a multi-disciplinary approach to recovering knowledge of ancient cultures. As brought out in a number of articles, such information appears to be directly relevant to intercultural similarities commonly observed in comparative cultural/ religious studies and in the preserved traditions of indigenous people.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all current and former Officers and Board members of the Society who helped make this and future volumes of ESOP possible.

Donal Buchanan and Jon Polansky, Co-Editors
